Nancy Gaby Valladolid is a Chicago photographer who is drawn to people of all ages, races, and classes in the moments of their lives that are emblematic of their experiences as human beings. She captures the essence of humanity and reveals the individuality of each subject. In the past it was important for a prominent human figure to have a portrait of themselves, giving us the opportunity to look into their journey and for them to be ever-present. Nancy photographs people because she believes that every person deserves to be seen, for their stories to be heard, and for the viewer to stand in the subject’s shoes.
Sparking conversations and inspiring the imagination, with a vision that cannot be taught, and must be personally experienced.
I have my B.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography. For the past five years I have been working as a professional freelance photographer. My ambition and skills have led me to photograph weddings, portraiture, fashion, and sports photography. I’ve photographed special events in Mexico, Puerto Rico, New York and my most recent trip to California for L.A. Fashion Week.
Ever-advancing my skills and perspective.
I am a portrait photographer who gives the viewer a glimpse of people’s personal lives. I draw influence from Lewis Hine who used his camera to expose truth and for social reform. I use my photographs to communicate authenticity and legitimacy about someone’s life and their journey. My photographs are simple, yet strong. I continue to explore my subject matter and ways I can communicate truth through the eyes of the people who I photograph.
